The Old Mill in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina

Heading over to Asheville, NC. to see the Biltmore Estate. It's an hour and half drive from Gatlinburg. We will drive Hwy 321 to Interstate 40 south to Asheville.  It's 30 degrees in Gatlinburg this morning. According to the Weather Channel we will be under a wind advisory again this morning, from 7:00 am until 4:00 am Wednesday morning.....with gust between 30 and 40 mph. The wind woke me up making a wild sound as it blew thru the trees outside. There is a chance of ice and snow Wednesday morning...we would like to see a liitle snow before we leave back home to Florida!!!!

All I can say is WOW!!!!, Biltmore Estate is absolutely beautiful and surrounded by a 100,000-acre forest.

Biltmore Estate
Completed in 1895, America's largest home offers a glimpse into a world of elegance and grandeur. George W. Vanderbuilt (1862-1914) was the grandson of Cornelius Vanderbuilt, and a member of a family with a vast fortune in shipping and railroads. Vanderbuilt offically opened Biltmore House of Christmas Eve 1895, inviting his family to celebrate his new home. Three years later, he brought his bride, Edith Stuyvesant Dresser(1873-1958), to live at Biltmore following their Italian honeymoon. Their only child, Cornelia(1900-1976), was born in Biltmore House. In 1930 Biltmore House was opened to the public, responding to the request of Asheville leaders hoping to increase area tourism during the Depression. Today, George Vanderbuilt's grandson, William A.V. Cecil, owns Biltmore. Under his leadership, many restorations efforts were undertaken to ensure the preservation of this national treasure.
