Real Live Chilean!
February 24, 2008
A few of the aussies(and new zealanders) and I had plans to go to the public pool nearby my house yesterday, until I found out that it was only 3ft deep. So I call Claire to let her know we might want to change plans. Coincidentally, one of her chilean mates had called to ask if we'd like to go to a river. We got a bit of a late start since we had to rearrange, but we got to hang out with an Authentic Chilean! Her name is Taty, and she doesn't speak any english, so we all got lots of practice. We got a bus out of the city and to the national park, and then hiked about 5miles to the river. Then we relaxed for a little while in the river, and hiked 5miles back! Next time I'll know to wear some running shoes and not sandals. We did lose a couple of the girls who came with us(by lost I mean they left early because the outdoorsy thing wasn't what they expected). I got a lot of good advice from Taty about places to go on weekends, and she also wants to join me and Emily(another aussie) to hike up Cerro San Cristobal. Cerro San Cristobal is a hill(big one) off to the side of the city that you can hike, take a bus up, or a cable car. There is a pretty big park at the top, but it's expensive, so I'll probably just hike it. If you all could take notice, I took this weekend a little easier and studied some spanish, Thank you very much. That's about it for now!
