This morning we had to get up early because of long drive al along the coast of Florida, from miami to St Augustine. Drinving on the I95 (the space coast) up to the North we made a stop half way, at Merritt Island. This is where the Kennedy Space Center is setteld. However very tourist the whole complex made a big impression on me. This is one of the few places in the world where people are launched into space. It's great to see the rockets and space shuttles in real life. Too bad no launch was planned at the time I was there.
When visiting the area we took a bus ride through the whole area, surrounded by rainshowers and thunderstorms the whole scenery was even more impressive. The busride took a bout an hour and a half, after that, you' ve seen most of the total complex
Nevertheless a memorable visit to this big complex.
After visiting the KSC we went to Daytona Beach.....and when in Daytona, I had to visit the Daytona Oval. In Europe we just love watching F1 Grand Prix races (at least, a lot of men do). But in the states the don't like F1 that much, they go for NASCAR racing. I never thought that the Oval / Stadium would be so big. For me it was a lot of fun visiting a real NASCAR speedway.
After visiting Daytona Beach this day is ending and we follow our way to Saint Augustine. We only spend the night overthere and early in the morning we visit a outlet-store to buy some new clothes. But that's all there is to tell about Saint Augustine. Next morning the trip carrys on to Orlando.....you can't miss the themeparks overthere :-)
