arrival in Bath, England
At 8 pm, I arrived in Bath and found White Heart Inn (₤12.50 for the night included sheets). I spent a couple of hours getting to know my roommates. One (out) Italian and a German named Philipp from Black Forrest. Both seemed to be very sociable, personable guys.
By 10:30, I had found The Wife of Bath, where I ordered swordfish and a lager. It was a quaint basement establishment of whitewashed concrete and stone. What a great choice! Delicious, well presented, colorful with Italian flat beans, red cabbage, and a tomato with herb sauce toping the fish. Aiding my digestion were the soothing sounds of ‘80s soft pop.
Pubs close at 11pm, so I did not get to go out that night. Afterwards, I did have a beer with ten or so fellow hostellers in the common room before bed at 1:00am.
