Inspiring-Amazing.  Can you tell this is one of my favotite Places?  I have more pics, but they are imprinisoned in the Blue Screen County Computer Jail.  Still unsure of parole date. 5/13/09 Pictures Paroled!!   Touradas a Corda (Bullfight by the Rope)  is unique to the Azores.  The bull is let loose with a very long rope around its neck, usually on a main street or a beach; this is where I got to see this spectacle. Before every bull is let out of the wooden crate, they launched a small rocket.  This signal indicates that there is a bull on the street; this was my signal to run away like
the Brave Knights in “The Search for the Holy Grail.
The Beach looks peaceful today. It is very different for "Tourada a Corda" (Running of the Bulls)
”  Once again I am wrong; the real idea is to peg the testosterone meter & impress the girls by getting as close to the Bull as possible.  Fat Chance. The Bull is guided by several experienced men, keeping a grip at the rope, & supposedly controlling the Bull, again Fat Chance. They may be experienced but that does not keep the testosterone filled young men of Terceira from being bulldozed, gored & blooded in the quest of Love. The crowd that is smart enough to stay much further away then the length of the rope attached to the Bull’s neck is having a great time.  I know I did. Everyone now walks or is carried to” Festas of Praia da Vitoria”  “Festas of Praia da Vitoria” is a Giant Gastronomical Fair held in large temporary tents (the biggest & finest I’ve ever seen) between the  harbor & St.
The Bulls Always Win
Travellisity. The tents are filling with restaurants from all over the Azores, Portugal & some International as well. They serve what they are famous for in their home regions. There is no duplication, the sights & smells will take your breath away.  They bring their private stock wines & cheeses you can’t find anywhere but under the Big Top unless you go to their towns. The best way to convey what it is truly like is to close your eyes & envision HEAVEN’S FOOD COURT surrounded by breathtaking  mountains, clear Cold Ocean for as far as you can see & slightly wounded testosterone filled youth, who in spite of their injuries still smile &  wave.  Praia da Vitoria as you might imagine is filled people from all over the world. Large yachts in the harbor to backpackers camped under the welcoming arms of St. Travellisity.  There are small booths selling shots, beer & wine, crafts, candy & toys for the kids.  Parades every night, local & international bands (saw the SCORIPIONS one year for 15euros).  I would like to thank my good friends The Little Pear Trees for their hospitality & friendship that I will try to repay in a small way this weekend when They come to visit from their new home in Seville.Yes there will be much discussion & planning for- Trip Seville 2008  I will add more pics as soon as they a paroled from The Blue Screen Computer Jail of Florida

amazing place. I can't wait to taste the alcatra
