Oliver, Mar, and I exited the Princes Street Party area past the Balmoral and up North Bridge to get to High Street. I don't remember the exact location of the Couchsurfing Party but it was just off the Royal Mile and very close to Smart City Hostel. As we entered the flat, the first person to greet us was Tabi, a Couchsurfer from Edinburgh. In fact, my cousin was in contact with her prior to our arrival in Scotland because she was coordinating a Couchsurfing meetup for Hogmanay as well as the Couchsurfing after party. I don't think this was Tabi's flat but we were welcomed with much love by other Couchsurfers...Bastien from France, Anick from Canada, and Wendy from Glasgow.

As Hogmanay revelers filtered into the 2 bedroom flat, the party soon became standing room only! Somehow I got separated from Mar and I ended up talking to a bunch of Couchsurfers from Australia, Spain, and Scotland in someone's bedroom.
This is what happens when CSers get drunk!
There were so many people in that flat that getting to the kitchen to grab a drink took me at least 15 minutes! By chance I caught a glimpse of Mar sitting on the couch in the small living room so headed in that direction. In the living room, we chatted away with Wendy. Her Glasgowian accent was crazy hard to follow but so much fun to listen to!

Eventually, we migrated to the loo to join Tabi, Anick, Bastien, and Jotikas who were partaking in alcoholic beverages...whiskey (I think), kalimotxo (pronounced calimocho and is a Spanish concotion made from 50% red wine and 50% Coke), and a beverage called Buckfast, which is a tonic wine. I don't know what else Jotikas put in the kalimotxo because shortly after, he, Bastien, and Anick squeezed themselves into the bath tub for shits and giggles!

The loo was getting too cramped for comfort so Mar and I headed out of the flat to chill on the stairwell. After a brief moment on the stairs, we both decided to call it a night and head back to the hostel for some much needed rest...even if only for a few hours!
