The beginning of an adventure
August 29, 2008
I had been to 5 continents, so far, but I had never been east of Idaho in the United States. So, with one week of planning, we decided that it was time to see the country in a good old-fashioned road trip! Ken's family lives in the Canton area of Ohio, and also my father grew up in the same town. So what a better excuse to finally see his family and enjoy all the sites America has to show on the way there!
We left early on Tuesday morning and drove straight from Everett to Spokane. By dinner time, we were in Butte, Montana, and decided to stop and eat at a local Dairy Queen. Never in my life had I seen so many boots and cowboy hats in one place! (the way back through Montana, though, broke another record). By 1 AM, we had reached Wyoming and were going strong with gas station coffee flowing in our veins. However, by 4 AM and 5 states later, we had to stop for the night at the local hotel--a.k.a. a Safeway parking lot. Tomorrow--to see Mt. Rushmore!!
