A day at the museums

Among many accomplishments, Joshua Chamberlain also served as President of Bowdoin College, in Brunswick...but we'll get to that when we visit his house!

I was going to meet Caren for lunch in Yarmouth today and planned to continue north to my old home town of Brunswick.  Alas, the need to juggle kiddies unleashed a flurry of emails and text messages this morning, ultimately resulting in rescheduling the get-together for Saturday. Although the slate for today was potentially wiped clean, I ultimately decided to stick with Brunswick because I wanted to atone for past sins, and am embarrassed to confess I would visit several sites in town that were ignored when I was a resident.

The list of omissions included the Joshua Chamberlain House, Skolfield-Whittier House and Peary-McMillan Museum.  All were enjoyed during a marvelous day in the old stomping grounds and with bonus time contributed by the abdicated lunch I even returned to a few old favorites.  So now we proceed with the parade of reviews, but if you ever drop in on Brunswick, you should not be wanting for something to do!
