Sunday was the grunt day. Cold, rainy weather was the perfectly miserable backdrop for the day I had to convey what I had been doing for Friends of Merrymeeting Bay (FOMB) over the last six years. It was me and six other members of the organization, each with expertise in one of the areas of my function. Unfortunately my specialty spans accounting
and Excel (the session involved a spreadsheet I designed which serves as an accounting package), and since most had knowledge in a single realm it was tedious (not confident my skills as a teacher are exemplary).
But we muddled through for eight hours and despite the glazed eyes by the end of the day, everyone had resolutely pursued understanding the package. The best part of the session was lunch. Because it was raining a bit heavy at that
hour, everyone declined to walk to the Bowdoinham Town Landing to eat (this is a great little restaurant and general store which I will write a review about if I ever get around to snapping a few pictures), except for one other Board
member. The Town Landing is only about thirty yards from our office, but it was an icky day. My companion was not just a really cool individual, he is also connected with the incredible Harraseeket Inn in Freeport. To make a long story short, I was rescued from my Brunswick hotel ("rescued" may be a bit harsh, since the America’s Best Value Inn was fair for the price charged.....but SO not in the Harraseeket’s league) and made a call to have me relocate.
When the day was over I sped back to Brunswick, re-packed, checked out, sped down to Freeport, and checked in to heaven!
