Haggis and scotch and bagpipes (Oh my!)
For the past five years on or about January 25th, a group gets together for the annual Robert Burns supper. The night starts with appetizers. As you can see from the picture, a very traditional program is followed. Burns poetry is read in the traditional lowland Scots, music is played, and a traditional meal is served. Yes, there are selections other than haggis, but at least TRYING the Scottish dish is recommended and all part of the experience.
Anyone is welcome to join in the celebrations and new friendships are encouraged. However, you will need to RSVP to Kathleen at The Scottish Store (http://thescottishstore.com/). She will also be able to provide more information of dates and times.
I accompanied Ken and Kathleen's (the hosts and owners of The Scottish Store) son while he sang "The Skye Boat Song" this year. I guess I cannot tell people I do not accompany anymore.
All in all, it's a fun night celebrating a great poet. In with the history and culture is wonderful music, merrymaking, and even some (Optional) Scotch. If you cannot come to
