There are no clouds in Las Vegas

Since there is no contest news or great sightseeing stories....a bit of background for this entry. When the Flyboy decided to go to Nationals last September, it was with the intention that the AWAC this year would be in Las Vegas. Well, at the meeting where the location was decided, the Vegas folks made their presentation followed by a last minute surprise bid by the folks at Radom. So here we are. Now...why I provided the background:
Yesterday dawned clear and gorgeous. That was about 4:45 AM which is when the sun came through our hotel room window and woke me up. It is tough when your day peaks before 5 AM! By 8:30 it was San Francisco pea soup fog. To make a long day slightly shorter, about 13 flights (round two, each pilot's individual freestyles) were launched making the round two total at about 30 flown. It began raining yesterday evening and has continued raining off and on ever since. It is now 10:00 Wednesday morning and we are getting ready to go to the briefing to find out that it is still raining : ( Needless to say, the pilots are getting a bit stir crazy and cranky. Coffee is being consumed at alarming rates, not to mention pierogies and stuffed cabbage. When you think of 64 pilots pumped up on caffeine and carbs....not a pretty sight.
So, the US mantra has become..."There are no clouds (or rain) in Las Vegas". Yeah, we are getting a bit obnoxious.
More news as it happens. Later,
