Blue Steel... 2/14

I never thought that training to become an english teacher could break someone...but oh did it.  You wake up at 6 am, on the bus by 7:50 then training until 3pm.  During those hours you get 15 minutes to find you something to eat.  After training you come home and study till about 2 or 3am.  Then repeat for a week and at some point you're going to say forget it all.

The only problem with throwing your hands up is that you are halfway around the world and your ticket was ONE WAY!!!  So if you quit you are now unemployed and homeless in a foreign country.  Sprinkle on the added pressure that if you do not pass training you are still unemployed and homeless.  It is a receipe for a week of sleepless nights, second guessing yourself and cramming like you have never crammed before.

Picking my brain for that last little bit of grammar from the third grade... 2/14
So you take the tests for the classes you'll be teaching and you take the grammar test, and you take the grammar test again and if you still didn't pass it then you take it one last day.  At the end of the week all you want to do is find a nice little hof (pub) where you can either celebrate or drown you sorrows in a pint.

So on the Friday after training I went with a few friends to find a hof and CELEBRATE!!!  We had signed our contracts and would soon be on our way to our respective branchises.  I said goodbye, exchanged information and went back to the Coatel to pack and await my taxi.  At exactly 7:30pm I received a phone call that my taxi was there and began dragging all my things down stairs with the help of my roommate and one of our friends.  I hugged everyone, promised to stay in touch and jumped in the taxi to head to Suwon.  Not five minutes into the taxi ride I succomb to pure exhaustion and was out the entire ride.

Don't worry teaching does get easier, your training sounds very intense. Its a lot easier here in Japan
