"Surprise"...My Going Away Party

The Saturday before I left my family decided to throw me a "surprise" going away party. I say "surprise" because my Great Aunt kinda spilled the beans about the party as I sat in my favorite place in her house, the radiator in the living room. For as long as I can remember, if it was cold outside that is where you could find me. When my parents brought me home from the hospital hers was one of the first houses I visited. So her house is my home. I still remember standing there in my school uniform waiting for my dad to finish getting ready. But I digress where was I...oh yeah the party.
I was sitting on the heat vent and she was telling me that the family was going to get together for dinner.
Saturday finally came and I spent the evening and well into the night hanging out with my family. Food was great, the people around me were better. They told stories about when I was younger. Drinking a bottle of Grape Dimetapp (Greatest Cough Syrup EVER!!!), shoving the bath towels into the toilet then squeezing out a tube of toothpaste and flushing. When my mother caught me and asked what I was doing I exclaimed that I was trying to help by washing the towel.
My cousins and I had to pick up my younger cousin from work so we jumped in my Aunt Lisa's car and went to pick her up. What should have been a 30min trip max turned into a 1 1/2 long ordeal. While we were sitting in the parking lot at my cousin's job some lady came up to our window and asked if we could give her a ride. Ummm No! We then got a call from one of my aunts saying to pick up something to drink. We spent a good 30+ mins in a grocery store. We didn't know what we wanted because they were out of the liters and the next size up was more than we would need. All the man could do was laugh at us, eventually one of my aunts just showed up and picked out a bottle Greygoose. It was her fault though that it took us as long as it did to pick it in the first place.
We headed back to my aunt's house and relaxed for another few hours before heading home...all in all one of the best parties I have been to hands down. I miss my family like crazy!!!!
