I guess a subtitle for this blog could be ‘mixing business with pleasure’. I had been working for a while on this project for a diamond mine in Lesotho so was very excited when I had a chance to go and visit the site high up in the mountains of that country, at around 3100m!

Drakensberg Gardens

In SA I stayed at the Drakensberg Gardens resort (another great place where to stay is Sani Pass Hotel) and then went back to Johannesburg after driving along the foot hills of the Drakensberg.

This turned out to be an absolutely stunning itinerary, very much worth a detour after a short business trip.

Lesotho is a beautiful country and and I would highly recommend this itinerary to anyone (using a 4x4…!). There are plenty of other beautiful areas to visit in this country.

One project that I had, which unfortunately didn’t materialize, was to go on a trek across the mountains. You can do a horse, pony or even donkey trek (the local’s most popular mean of transportation) in the beautiful Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho.
