Only a day and a half stay in HK but i liked it! But my shoes had stolen in hostel while i was out.. Busy days in Singapore. Freinds took me everywhere. I needed 'my time' though..

back to singapore

my hotel's balcony. lovely!!

Back in Singapore and headed to Chinatown. When I went to Singapore, it was a few weeks before Chinese New Year so everywhere I went was nicely decorated for New Year. Chinatown was the best. Everything was red with the word 'spring' on it.  Bought some souvenirs for family. Chinatown in Singapore is wonderful. No smell, not dirty, not too noisy. I've never been to Chinatown like that. Even Japan's Chinatown is smelly and dirty.

There was interesting food/snack in Chinatown called, tu tu kueh. Made from what? I don't know what's that whit thing but inside, they had coconut and peanut. That's my favorite!! My friends asked me if I had sugar cane juice, I said no so they said I should try so I did. WHAT WAS THAT? I thought I was drinking sweet grass!! It was so gross!! I felt really bad that I couldn't drink it up but it was just too gross.

They knew I didn't drink so they said it's okay to throw it away. Thanks!! But sorry ><  I tried hard to drink 1/5!!!

After Chinatown, took a bus to Orchard rd. Chinese food for dinner. YAAAAY!! My favorite Chinese food, xiolongbao. This restaurant is the most popular ont they said. It's in Paragon mall, B1F, called 'Din Tai Fung'. We waited for 5 minutes. Holy cow! This place is HUGE!!!!! We ordered some dumplings and fried rice. Ohhh... I am HAPPY!!!!! Actually the taste is just like the one I always go in Nagoya. But still.. great!!

After dinner, we went to see Merlion. I have no idea why we walked!!!! We could take subway to get there. I was already tired. And actually they never told me where to go next so I was just following them.

very clean chinatown, ever!
If I knew where to go and I didn't have to walk and they were talking in Chinese so I had NO idea what they were talking about!!!! Speak english, please! Can't you guys see me!?!? Whatever..   Here I am, at Merlion!! Wow! small!! That's my first impression. I thought it's more bigger. But it was cool and it was night so merlion with other buildings' lights looked nicer. Saw some Japanese and korean.  Stayed for a little while and move to another place, I thought... NOPE! We were walking back to my hotel by FOOT, AGAIN! I should have asked them where we were going so I didn't have to walk all the time.

Got to my hotel and said bye to them and went to my room. OOOPS! My new roommate was changing. haha!! When I saw him at noon, he was also changing. He said 'why you always come in when i'm changing!?' Why would I know!?  We chatted a bit. He's married to Indonesian woman and was on his way back to Bali. Cool!! Right after he left, other roommate came back. Looked tired, again.

Today was just SO tired. Walking around the city and fell down, even lost my towel. I need a good sleep.

The tu tu kuey is mixture of rice flour and tapioca flour, first they need to mix and fried the flour, then the process is what u see when they do on the spot.

Old but quiet hotel
Singapore has tons of Hostels/Hotels. Of course I looked for hostels this time too. I talked to local friends that which area is easy for me to hang out. I first booked at different hostel. It was only girls dormitory but for some reason, they didn't put any price on their website. I booked but kinda not wanted to stay there anymore so I changed.
Changed to this unique hostel. It's actually hotel/hostel. If you want to stay with your friends or family of two or three, they have private room just like hotels but also has dormitory rooms. My room was 3 bed room. With a tiny window, a big TV, a tall but thin locker so you can put everything in it with a key and a comfy bed. The bad thing was they had only one concent and it was under the bed, kind of hard to use. Especially for women who wants to use hairdryer. If someone was sleeping on this bed, you can't actually used it or you'll wake them up. When my roommate was sleeping, I used the one in a common room.
Every floor has common space with books and couches.W
When I went there, they had only 2 computers but I think they have now Wifi. Internet was $1 for 15 minutes or so and very slow. I prefer to use at the different places.
This is a hotel so they give you towels, toothbrush and toothpaste. And they clean your sheets everyday. They have laundry machine at the top of this building (outside). And they also have a nice balcony. You can get a tan, read, relax, drink at night.
They have a elevator but it's a very old style so that they always have some old man to help you out. You can use stairs if you are in a hurry :)

My room was very cheap. $17 per night for dormitory room.

If you take metro from airport, it's on the same line so you don't have to change. I think it was green line..

* A sad news about this hotel.. it's CLOSED so you can't stay here anymore.. so sad :(

I think you should leave it but updated it that this is now officially closed as of 2 Nov so other TBs will not start looking for this when they come to Singapore ;)

I read the newspaper today that the 7th Storey Hotel has ceased its operations and today is the last day as the building needs to make way for the new MRT line...what a pity!
