my advanced birthday dinner
It all started on the January meetup, when 3 guys and 2 girls under the influence of alcohol (remember the big mugs of beer the 3 travbuddies here are holding? yes, that's them, LOL) agreed to meet on February 2 in a house in Quezon City (yep, my house) to celebrate my birthday and Bryan's (ryan_84). Ryan didn't make it though because of work. I am really not the type who entertains visitors at my house since I only had my own place for roughly 3 months and my house is still unfurnished for the most part. I do have reasons for not wanting this to push through. First problem, I only have 2 plates. Solution: Share plates?? Girls 1 plate and guys another plate? Nah, that wouldn't do. Second problem, I only have 2 chairs and a coffee table.
Solution: Girls sit on the two chairs while the guys sit on the floor. Nah, it wouldn't be fun. Imagine the girls looking down at the guys when we ask, "do you guys want more rice?" I am afraid the guys wont be smiling to us then :D but we sure would be smiling to them, hehehe... I was determined to tell them that it is a bad idea to meetup for that day, but then my dining set which was supposed to be delivered on Feb 4th as the earliest got delivered 2 weeks early!!! Ooops, suddenly one problem solved. Third problem (or we can call it the second problem since #2 has already been solved), FOOD. Yaiks! I dont know how to cook (well, I can give it a try :D). I know, I know, I am giving you all lousy excuses. I can just order food from a resto or just try cooking a simple meal. Lousy excuse, Jenneth! So with just two small problems, I sent them a message that they are welcome to come to my house on Feb 2 for dinner.
Date: February 2, 2008
Location: My house :)
Host: Jen (jennethm)
Guests: Sarj (kickassstunner), Josh (the_bloodsucker), Ted (ted332)
It was an uneventful day, full of endless chatting from all four of us, travel related and not. After dinner, we put the coffeetable and chairs in my office (I work at home) and bring the booze there too (courtesy of Ted's generosity) to also enjoy the company of Nina (a fellow travbuddy, profile name is aoisoba) online through MSN voicechat. It was a night full of jokes, chat, food and drinks. It was indeed an early celebration of my birthday :D Thanks guys! err.. +1 girl.
Oh, about the food. :D My heaven-sent uncle took care of it as a gift for my birthday. We had adobo and pinaupong manok (sitting chicken - what a funny name for a dish, right?), plus home-made chocolate cake from our favorite caterer. Come on, do you really think I would make an effort to cook?? Hahaha! And yes, I bought new plates. :D

This is a spa connected to the Fitness First gym but can also be enjoyed by non-members of the gym. Being a member though entitles me to a 20% discount on all of their services. All the more reason to indulge! One massage costs around P990, but you can get it cheaper if you buy it in packages, like 5 massage, get 1 free. They used to be known for the name BodyCare but has recently changed to Fitness First Spa to establish their connection with the gym. The Fitness First Spa is a haven for anyone seeking the chance to relax in a very tranquil setting - whether it is in the privacy of a single room, or enjoy the luxurious amenity of a bathtub/jacuzzi in a couples room (good for spa-dates with your friends or *wink*wink* with your honey). The soothing combination of subdued lighting, music, and Filipino-inspired decors will surely appeal to your senses. Don't be surprised to find yourself stiffling a moan of plesaure as the well-trained hands of their therapists glide their hands on your tense muscles.
The Fitness First Spa have 11 branches all over Manila. The services offered are body wrap, body scrub, massage (can be shiatsu, swedish and sports massage), and facials.
The downside of the SM North Edsa branch and most of their branches is that their sauna is inside the gym so guests have to enter the gym if they want to have a sauna first before the treatment. They do not provide disposable underwears in case of scrubs or body wraps so guests should bring a spare underwear. No hair dryer/blower provided, but the shower do have a shampoo and body soap. But whatever they lack is compensated by skillful hands of their therapists. Beware though as massages can be addictive. :D I think I already am!
Oh, I almost forgot, there is a complimentary tea after the treatment session. :)
