OK, so I saved up the money and was ready to go for a year. China was the starting point. What can be more suitable than a country that been known as a "hard to travel at" as my first place to visit out side of EU? So it's been a great time!!! and I just felt in love for this place! unbelievable! so it's been 2 months at the north west parts of the country, then went to Mongolia and when I come back I spend about 6 weeks down south. I lost all the films from the first 2 months...sorry...

Going so close to Tibet! o god!

OK, So Deqin is a name of an area, and a name of a small tibetan town, the last one before you go into Tibet, a think that I didn't do this trip, keep some for the next one.

The town is a town, nothing special...but when I think of it, they did had a great dance at the eve! everyone just went outside to the main street and start to dance, sing and play! great thing to see and be part of (man, how come I don't have a photo of it?!)

But from here we took the bus to a small vilage, about 1 hour away and we start exploring the area. We went up to a holly glacier that look great! the path go inside a great forest and many Tibetan go there, so the road is full with prying flags etc.

It's also just tern to be that the Jewish new year took place at that time, so we all got some apples with honey (part of Jewish tradition).

It was funny as I had it with me, and I just got inside the kitchen of the restaurant, took the knife and start cutting the apples, it was just so much easier then try to explain what I want.

After we done with the celebrations, we move the next day to another small village, this time even deeper inside the mountains. It was a great place - sitting so high, the big mountains are all around and you just need to try and keep your eyes open! From over there we did day hikes to the holly waterfall and to the holly lake...yes, I know, it's all holly over there :) it's a great thing and I wish I know more about the Tibetan buddhism so I would understand it better, but it's so impressive to see all these pilgrims going from one place to another, praying!

They also had some kind of smoke pork, very good! the food there is also a thing to think about! so unlike the chines food! just taste different!

One funny this is that as we sit in our G.

H the owner come and ask us to give the place a name in English so we all sit there, and the Chines try to tell us what is the meaning of the chines name, and it's tern to be something a bit like "Obscured by Clouds". You know, one of the nice chines sounding litterateurs names, so we start to write it down in english, in nice big characters, just to find out after about 45 min's of brainstorming, that they already have a name for the place in english on the business card, and this name was just "Haven Inn"...so much not like what they try to tell us about all the Obscured by Clouds kind of thing! so we simply couldn't move on without having one more beer! think that after that beer come one more, let's make it two more beers!

When I look backward, I can see how good it was for me over there! just so peaceful, quiet and beautiful!

From here I just had to start going back all the way to Macau, as I had to get my flight to the Philippines.

I'll skip this part as it was just going in the buses, trains, a short stop in Kunming visit a friend and hope to the next train till I made it to Macau, not before it finely happened to me: My last day in China, just going on the bus to Macau and I want to get some coke, sound good right? the guy was asking for more then it use to cost, but I pay, just to find out on the bus that it wasn't even a real coke, just some kind of chines stuff...and it was after been in China for about 3.5 months! never mind...:) this kind of things are a mush, nothing to do about it and you simply can't do with out it.

How different is Deqin from Zhongdian? Is it worth visiting if I'm spending 2 days in Zhongdian?
