Our train trip for the Summer of 2008. The idea, the planning, the reservations, the booking, the travelling. I hope you will enjoy reading about my struggles and my excitement of this trip. Some of the countries we plan to visit: Starting ofcourse in the Netherlands, we have to go through Germany to the Czech republic, Slovakia, Hungary, probably Transsylvania (in Romania), Austria, Italy, Switzerland, and then heading back home again.

Early preparations

And so, after my guests left for their new home I finally can set my mind on planning our traintrip this Summer.
Two weeks ago me and my sister had a brief talk about our wishes, and what might be possible to do; with the few notes we made in hand I started to search for destinations and timetables. The internet is such a great help with this.

I've started with the CNL leaving Amsterdam and arriving next morning in Prague - or should I say Praha.

Then off for a couple of days to explore the beautiful nature in Slowakia's Low Tatra, and then further on to Hungary where we want to see the Puszta scenery (or what is left of it) at Hortobagy.

Maybe I can squeeze in a short trip to Transsylvania, but.... because we want to pay a visit to Milaan, Italy before returning to Amsterdam, and we really don't want to travel through Servia or Kroatia we may have to skip Transsylvania... and then I feel sorry about it, because my chatm8 lives there.
