This trip was mainly because of business, but thanks to a friend I was able to spend a fun weekend in Texas. Then I went to New Orleans for work but also for Mardi Gras, yeah!!!! I will talk about NOLA in this blog, because Mardi Gras deserves its own blog:)

New Orleans... working before Mardi Gras :)

My hosts - a lovely couple with a lovely pet :)

Day 1: Officially this was my first day in New Orleans. I woke up really early in order to go to the office which is a bit far away from where I’m staying. I have to cross the big Lake Pontchartrain. They day was cool.

I was wearing my coat and gloves. In Austin and in Houston I was feeling silly about carrying the big coat, because it wasn’t that cool. But it was really useful in New Orleans. Maybe it wasn’t too bad, but for a Latin girl used to warm weather it was too much… brrrrrr.

I was working until 5 and then moved to Uptown with some friends. They are a lovely couple and she wanted me to stay at her house since my first time in the city, so this one was the perfect opportunity. Also they recently moved to a house just 2 blocks away from St. Charles, yeah!

We enjoyed a quiet evening, had some wine and cooked fish. It was the perfect way to start everything, just taking the things easy. Well, I have to accept, that since I arrived to the USA, I haven’t spent one single day without alcohol, mmmm.

Day 2: it was another office day. Just working. Well, I have to work. It was supposed to be the mainly purpose of my travel to the USA ;)

We had dinner at home, but went out for delicious ice cream nearby. They were just amazing! I wrote a review about them. Yummy!

I was just getting ready for the Mardi Gras experience coming soon.

What else can I say? It was the perfect thing after a hard day working. They offer not only a wide variety of flavors, many of them unusual, but also I should say it's an experience itself.

Of course you can always find there the traditional flavors like vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, cookies and cream, mint chocolate chip and a few others. But many of their flavors change. So, if you don't find your usually favorite flavor, don't feel sad and try an unusual one like: Blue Cheese Walnut, Salted Caramel, Doberge Cake, Coffee & Doughnuts, Butternut Squash w/ Woodchuck Cider & Creme Fraiche, Redvelvet Cake, etc. Maybe it will be a huge discovery.

By the way, they were also offering a King Cake's Ice Cream too.
