Houston, Houston, we have a problem ... but I succeeded
and now it was time to visit Houston... yeah!!!! I had a 8hr layover, uffff.
I contacted Duane some time ago when I noticed I'm gonna stay in Houston. So he offered to take care of this Peruvian little girl, while I'm in town. I arrived to the airport and picked up my suitcases, but a bottle of red wine was broken, Noooooo!!!! I felt the smell and decided to forget about it until I'm in New Orleans, my final destination. This smelly thing won't ruin my Sunday, no way!
Duane was at the airport waiting for me with Shannen, his girlfriend. He picked me up and they have already planned what to do. It was super, because Houston is a big city. I can't imagine have been there just by my own, probably I would have been staying in the airport... But somebody rescued me :)
We drove downtown and went to the Sea Aquarium.
I felt like a child again, Duane can say I'm not lying. He got passes for the whole day, so we can see the attractions as many times as we want. We started watching how they fed the sharks. Wow! I don't envy these people at all. We kept on watching the different fishes and other animals from the sea, but we were waiting for the White Tigers!!!There are 4 tigers. Twice a day they are fed in front of the people and then they play. We had to wait until we could see them. So we decided to drink something, take a ride in the train, the boat and then the Ferris Wheel. So we had a great view of downtown. Finally we decided to try the Free Fall style Roller Coaster. It was so much fun. My stomach was in my throat, hahaha. Really I was a little child again.
Well, it was Tiger's time. The girl in charge had to clean the cage pretty well first. Then they fed the tigers and let 2 of them playing around. These cute tigers looked so sweet and innocent, like big kitties. But when they started playing and sort of fighting with each other, you could realize they weren't little angels...
By the time the show ended it was almost 2pm, so it was time for lunch. What can I have in Houston, TX???? Real Tex Mex food!!!! Duane drove us to a nice place, well known because of the delicious food and drinks. It was fun, all the waiters spoke Spanish better than English, so they felt pretty confortable talking to me in Spanish, hahaha. Even the menu was written in Spanish, so I became the translator. Besides the food we had our Margaritas and Long Island Tea.
It was yummy!!!So, sad time was getting over. So we drove to another part of the city, famous because of its small and nice stores. The shops were neat and I found my magnet! The whole part of the city looked as if the time didn't pass there. The square, houses, everything was lovely. We took a walk, not so long because I had to catch a flight.
I spent a great day with Duane and Shannen. They were terrific hosts! We arrived to the airport and was time to say good bye :(
My travel to New Orleans started and Oh! I remembered about the broken bottle... well another story to tell...

It is located outside the city limits of Houston. The eviroment is nice and the staff is very friendly. Almost all of them are Mexican and some of them speak better Spanish than English. Also the menu is written in Spanish.
The wide menu includes fajitas, rellenos, enchiladas, and tilapia, and of course they serve Margaritas too.
