My girlfriend and myself arrived at the airport at 5:30am for a 7am flight from Phoenix to Newark. I hate getting up early. :) Needless to say I was only half awake for the first leg of the trip. I wish I could say that I was asleep for the whole flight but alas I am not that lucky. I am one of those people who cannot sleep while travelling. We had a 2hr layover in Newark, which wasn't bad, it gave us enough time to get something to eat. The flight from Newark to Athens was long. It wasn't the longest flight I have been on but still long. We arrived in Athens the next day, and by the time we got our baggage and through customs it was early afternoon. We took the Metro from the airport to the area where our Hotel was. We were lucky because it was only a short walk from the square where we got off the metro. After getting check in we went in search of an internet cafe to check email to see if the other couple we were meeting in Athens had sent an update. No emails so we took the metro and had no idea where we were going. I saw a pic of the Acropolis on one of the stops and said lets get off here. Sure enough there we were. We paid to get in and did a quick tour of the Acropolis. We only did a quick one because we were both tired. After that it was off to find dinner. We hit the shopping area, and found plenty of dining. It had been a long day so time to go back to our Hotel and crash
