I spent three weeks in Hong Kong with my then girlfriend, now wife in July/August 2006. My journal is my honest and frank opinions of what I found whilst we stayed on HK island.

Lamma Island for seafood.

Tonight we visited the Rainbow seafood restaurant on Lamma island. The restaurant put a ferry on for you to get to the island, providing you eat in their restaurant. Which we did. Excellent recommendation by Jeremy. Its another place that is worth making the effort to venture out to, if especially if you like your seafood.

Most ferry departures from Central and Aberdeen and head to the main settlement of Yung Shue Wan on the islands north-west tip, but the Rainbow is in Sok Kwu Wan on the south east coast. Sok Kwu Wan is the less populous end of Lamma, with fewer expats and bars. Nonetheless, many daytrippers come here for lunch or dinner at the row of waterfront seafood restaurants. In Rainbow you can take your pick of seafood from the live tanks, which are filled with lobsters, fish of many colours and all manner of sea creatures clambering over each other in a vain attempt to escape the chefs hand.

The ferry back tonight was an experience. We sat on the top deck and the wind and rain made the half hour ride back as refreshing a boat ride as you will ever experience.
