Well, finally arrived into Hong Kong at 4.30pm after an 11 hour flight from Zurich airport. For anyone thinking of flying into HK from the UK, flying with Swiss Air into Zurich and onto HK from there is to be highly recommended. My GF (Girlfriend) Tamara booked our flight tickets several weeks back at a snip for only 500 pounds return.
First Impression of HK is busy busy, full of go and extremely lively. We are staying in a swish apartment with Tam's sis and hubby in the Mid Levels at the top of the famous Escalator. In 1993, in a not very successful attempt to ease traffic congestion, a 792 metre long escalator opened between Central Market and the residential area of Mid-Levels. It is actually a series of 20 escalators and three travelators, with exits to all of the streets across which it cuts. Its a really good way to reach the hip bars and restaurants of SoHo and to reach the concrete canyons of Mid-Levels, where we are staying.
Because we were both tired from our flights we had a relatively early night, our first in HK, but not before we went out with Summer & Jeremy to sample some local delights. A really nice little bar, one which I would reccomend is just off the Escalator in SoHo called the Peak Cafe Bar, we stopped of for a few drinks before hitting a great little Argentinian restaurant for a sirloin steak. I will rememer the name of it and write about it later. But for anyone who likes their steak, and well done at that then this has to be a definate must whilst on the Island.
Thats all for now.
