Halape Beach

Halape...almost there!
Starting in temperate rain forest an 8 mile hike one way...dropping around 3000ft in elevation while traveling through lava fields, sparse Ohi'a forest and desert brush;
Ending in a glorious Oasis on the coast surrounded by lava field...white sand beach, coconut trees, surf, tide pools...even a brackish pool a short hike away in a massive fissure.   About a half a mile down the coast is Halape Iki...an absolutely spectacular tide pool!  Around 30ft deep in pure white sand and amazing crystal blue water.
-Extraordinary schools of fish buzz about clear as day and coral practically breathes in sight as it struts from the tidal walls.  All the while if you look down the clear water shades to a light blue that slowly transforms to a turquoise as it finally meets the white sandy floor.  And just at one small opening to the pool ferocious bubbles tickle around any bare skin and devious currents grasp at your entire body, enticing you to zoom out into wild open ocean.  Though that idea would come highly unrecommended there!
