Laguna de apoyo is a wonderful change from the city of granada. Although granada is beautiful it is nice to be able to swim and enjoy the silence. Laguna de Apoyo is the only lake in nicaragua that is clean and safe to swim in. No motor boats are allowed and to my knowledge no one is dumping there sewage into the lake.
We are staying at Craters edge. It is a very nice place and run by a nice lady named ann. She has lots of energy and aims to please. Service here is excellent. On our first evening we went for a walk and saw tons of birds and monkeys. There are howlers and cappucins here. There is a great trail that is rare used that goes to a vista. Unfortunatly you have to walk through a strange highly developed resort called narome. The reason i say it is strange is because there are buildings everywhere and seem to have been thrown together quickly and then left to fall apart.
We got to the top (it was called catherina... i think). We ate lunch and decided to take a taxi down the hill. We took a three wheeled motorcycle type thing down the hill. the road was terrible so it made for a fun ride. The taxi type thing was very skinny and he was squeezing it through everything.
After the cab ride i immediatly went for a swim in the awesome lake and then took a nap. It was a wonderful day!
