Hereby my version of the Amsterdam Meet up.
After weeks of chatting on the Amsterdam meet up forum, the day finally arrived. To be honest I was sticking nervous about meeting the rest and didn't know what to expect. After a last checkup at the forum, seeing if everybody was on their way, I toke my car and drove up to Amsterdam. To be honest, it's a place I don't prefer to come, because I'm from Rotterdam and it just don't click between those two city's. Their is quit some rivalry between our city's, and I'm one of those persons who is that rivalry and have a accent I cann't hide! But anyhow, my trip to Amsterdam went quit well.
No queue on the highway. It chanced when I got in to the centre of Amsterdam. Precisely were we would meet, the square around the Central Station was one big buildingsite. So, my plan of putting my car at the car park nearby the Central Station fell through, I had to drive further to the next car park. That wasn't as easy as the sign's said. All car parks were full and I had to keep on driving. Finally I found on near Waterlooplein. From there it was a 20 minutes fast walk to the Smid's Koffiehuis. I was 20 minutes to late now and saw nowbody standing outside. O dear, they all are probably there already. Am I to late? Inside the koffiehouse it was extremely quiet. Some elderly people were sitting at some tables, but no TB Meet up group to find! The waiter told me to walk further to a seperate room, so I got through some doors and heard the noise already.

I just toke a deep breath and stepped in to the room. +/-30 Faces were looking my way. GREAT!! Just what I need. The first familiar face I saw was Devika's and of course Mark. People started to guess who I was, but most of them didn't know! An other familiar face stood up, it was Ket, but the rest was difficult to recognize. I just told everybody my name, ordered a cappuccino and sat down next to Devika. Mark was doing his paperwork, finding out who I was on the list and if I signed up for dinner aswell. After that I got stickerd by Devika in orders of Mark. Mark for the next time, you now know who I am and be carrefull on stickering Europeans by one of your next meet ups, it's not a thing we're fond of! So, praise yourselve for doing that, we won't do it again.Hahahahahahaha...

I had a talk with Marcel, Mark, Eef, Devika, Zoey and Paula.
Rubina and Wayne were sitting behind me, and were still discussing who I was. So, I confirmed that I was Charlotte aka vosking. It was nice to talk to so many of you, some total strangers for me, but there was a click between all of us, I guess. It felt like meeting old friends again after a long period. Later on Johan came inside and I recognized him directly. And finally, there they were, Hanie and Lauro, to shy to come inside! So, walked up to Lauro and Hanie to welcome them and said that it was alright to come further! ;D
Sanne, Johan ans Suat.
When all of us were inside it was already time to leave the Smids Koffiehuis, so the bill was asked and payed. After, I don't know how many group photo's, inside and outside, we went to Humpfrey's restaurant. There were 3 large tables and the waiters were waiting for us to sit down and ordering our menu choise and drinks.
I was sitting on the table with Mark, Rahpke, Sanne, Johan, Suat and Bennie(at first). We had some nice talks before we got started eating. But first Rahpke told everybody not to start eating, because there would be a speech. I got up and got everybody's attention. I asked if Wendy and Devika would come forward and so they did. I told everybody that TB was about award winning and that there hat to be a special award for the 2 organizers. I think they earned it for there organizing skills. So, I gave them both a trophee cup with the text; Biggest global Meet-up Amsterdam 2008'' on it. They were beeing photographed as they were celeberty's. Then we got our dinner. It was great the food. I had the Salmon as a starter, the Scampy's for maincource and the icecream for dessert. Yummie!!
At the restaurant.
After dinner we went to several pubs, but most of them were to full for our group.
But finally they found one almost empty, so we could all fit in. The nice thing for me was the football on a big screen against the wall. I enjoyed a lot, althrough my favorite group didn't winn. After taking photo's and talking to many of you all like, Bennie, Willem, Stephan, Ket, Marloes, Melle, Mandy, Marcel and a bit with Jeff, I had to go home. After saying goodbye Johan, Zoey and Hanie were so kind to walk me back to my car. Johan gave us a small tour around Amsterdam. He told us several things about the old buildings and about the most expensive hotel in Amsterdam. After more then a half an hour walk( we had a slide D-tour) we arrived at the car parc. I said goodbye to Johan, Zoey and Hanie and got to my car. But first I had to pay! I must say, it was quit a shock when I saw the price of parking in Amsterdam.

I had to pay €31,50. Holy Sh...! I better could have booked a hostel in Amsterdam! It would have been cheaper.Gggrrrrrr... I got home quit fast, and went straight to bed. The next time I desided to stay in a hostel aswell. I won't and will not miss the party till the early mornig again. Coming to Amsterdam was well worth it to meet you ALL. Thanks!!
Handing over the one and only 2 "Biggest global Meet-up Amsterdam 2008" awards to Devika and Wendy.(stolen photo ;) )
P.S. Special thanks to Lauro and Willem for sorting out about the text on my T-shirt. It's what I already guess, it's a brand for washing powder with lemon. ;D
