London Meet-up

Lori and Hannah, two of the most amazing people i've met this year!

Wednesday 30th Jan

I’ve decided to start the meet-up blog from the day before, just because it was as eventful as the day (well not really!). I think it just puts everything into context because the next few days won’t be understood unless I introduce today….you didn’t get that did you? Oh well, I know what I mean! (And no I am not still drunk!)

So, usual Wednesday morning, got up at 7am to get ready for work. I wouldn’t usually get up that early, that enthusiastically, but I knew I was meeting up with Lori after work to go shopping so I had something to look forward to! Plus, I was really stressed out by about this time, and didn’t really get much sleep, because of the meet-up and all uni stuff.

Got into work for 9ish, give or take a few minutes.

Me and Tet
It was boring as usual, and I spent most of the day on here, sorting out the last few arrangements for the meet-up. I tried to convince my boss to give e the day off on Thursday so that I could concentrate on the meet-up (and my exam obviously), but he was reluctant to even let me off early so I changed my shift so I’d work in the morning and have the afternoon off. He’d decided he’d be even more of a bastard and said I had to come in for 9, even though the shift starts at 9.30.

At about 6 I managed to get away from work, and jumped on the bus to Liverpool street station to meet Lori.

After catching up on all the gossip, we headed to Tottenham court road so do our shopping for prizes for the game we were playing at the meet-up. We ended up getting a bit too over excited and ended up getting a gift for everyone!

It took ages trying to decide what to get though! But after an awesome Belgian chocolate waffle, we made up our minds and got everything really quickly before the shops all closed!

Lori took the presents home to wrap, but then we realised we’d forgotten the wrapping paper, so she ended up wrapping then in the London Lite newspaper.

Me and Noel
Classy.

We both headed off home after shopping was done. It was nice hanging out with Lori again, shame Hannah was working!

Thursday 31st January

I didn’t get much sleep last night either, mainly because I’d just realised that my exam was on Friday, and it finally dawned on me that I hadn’t done anything at all for the exam!

When I woke up though, it was half 9. Shit! I was late for work, so I rushed around trying to get ready. After I’d come out of the bathroom, I received a voice message from my boss asking me to call him because we needed to discuss what was going on. I called him straight away and our receptionist picked up. I asked to speak to my boss, but he was refusing to take my call because he was ‘busy’. How rude is that?!

And then when he finally did take my call, he sacked me! Apparently I wasn’t enjoying the job (Who enjoys running around after other people cleaning up their mess?), and I wasn’t good enough for it.

Me and Mike
In my opinion I was too good for the job..hehe!

Well, that was a bit of a bad start to the day. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry! And then if that wasn’t bad enough, I ended up having an argument with my dad just an hour later, and he kicked me out of the house! Jeeeeesus, it gets better and better!

Only option I had was to go see Dilsana. Bless her. She wasn’t surprised I’d lost the job. She and Shola were waiting to see when I’d get fired! Nice.

Went to see another colleague, who reassured me that everything would be ok, and I felt a tiny bit better. Plus it was the day of the meet-up, and I wasn’t going to let that get me down.

So it was off to Mile End station to meet-up with Sarahelaine. We got on instantly (her working for the NHS probably helped!).

Me and Bex
Went to the flat and just chilled. Then Hannah-lou joined us after work, and we go ready for the meet-up.

When we got to Camden we were a bit late (only 5 minutes!), so we made our way down to 55 as quick as possible. Mark and John were the only ones there. After a while my phone was constantly buzzing as people started coming into Camden. By about 8 we’d got a pretty reasonable number, and I decided seeing as though happy hour was up, we’d head to Wagamamas next door.

As everyone ordered food, Lori and I sorted out the gifts and the game. Hannah was pretty smashed by about that point and spent her time getting food everywhere and kissing me non-stop..lol.

I think the game came as a shock to most people! But everyone gave it a shot!

I won’t go into what the game was about, because I just can’t be bothered! But the teams and point were:

4th place – Awesome Foursome           1.

Mark (travelman727), Warren (otto219), Tanya (tanyaS82), Primrose (Dazedandconfused78)

These lots thought they’d be clever and pretend to play the game. However, as everyone left wagamamas to jump on the tube, and Lori, Hannah and I went to get the prizes, they walked the 10 yards back to 55 and sat there and drank more cocktails, only to be discovered 20 minutes later by the judges! You deserved to lose! The point were for some cockey picture taking, one being Warren pretending to be nelsons coloum, and good use of Tanyas keyring gift.

3rd place – The originals            5 points

Matt (Mat-uk), Patrick (Maplefanta), Ben (Ben589), jlbjlb (Noel)

These lots put a bit of effort in! But they chilled in 55 too! They were given points for the funniest, well thought out pictures! Examples being matts eye for the London eye task and another nelsons colomn attempt.

Ma and Matt..and Bex being crazy again...

2nd place – Ruby Ruby Ruby                 11 points

John (londonstudent), Sarah (sarahelaine), Nathan (Nathan85), Can (bluewheel)

Being named after me, I expected them to win! But I guess second place isn’t too bad!!!...they actually did go and play the games properly! But were penalised because they missed the 11pm curfew and were the last team to come back! Good effort though!

Winners – 2 + 2                       12.

I LOVE this pic!!

Matt (mattgtfour), Mike (globetrottingmike), Amanda (bluejule79), Tet (Sweetet)

Firstly awesome name! Secondly they made an effort so deserved to win. Well technically they were pretty tactically, and did the tasks that offered the most points! So even though they did 2/5 tasks, they won fair and square!

So that was the game. By the time everyone had congregated it was time to leave 55 in order for everyone to catch their train home!

So after a pretty funny train-ride, everyone went their separate ways!

So that was it!..I had a great night, and hope everyone else did too!

Hope to see you all on the 9th for part two!
