My brother wanted to go for a short week getaway somewhere warmer before shipping out to the Middle East for the third time. Tampa and Orlando fit the warmer description and they have amusement parks. My brother is about the only adult I know that likes roller coasters as much as me!

St Pete Beach

On our final day, we started out by having breakfast at a charming and delicious creperie in Ybor City called La Creparia Cafe.  Then we headed to St Pete Beach and a final day soaking up the sun at Fort DeSoto Park.  These are some pristine beaches with very fine powdery snow-white sand where you can wade across from the main beach to sand shoals (at the right time of day).  It was extremely windy while we were there though.  On the way back to the airport, we stopped in downtown St Petersburg where the Indy Racing League was racing in the Gran Prix of St Petersburg.  The cars were racing in the streets and you could hear the roar of the engines for miles in any direction.  We tried to go to the top of the Pier Mall to get a glimpse, but the race was just coming to a close.  We had no luck in spotting Danica Patrick.
