39 new seamen step on board, after long journeys from several continents

When everybody is onboard Captain Rob gives a welcoming speech followed by a toast with Beerenburg and Skipperbitter.

After dinner Mike and Sebastian Familiarise the fresh crew on safety, Tjalling lectures about Europa s history and life on board during the trip.

From the deck we can spot some of the birds that are typical of the coast of Ushuaia: Southern Giant Petrels, Kelp and Dolphin Gulls, South American Terns winging elegantly through the air and Rock Shags and King Shags flying close to the water surface.

Long tiring journeys leaves the bar empty early.

Hey Xander,
Mighty brave of you to go to Antarctica on the Bark Europa. That Drake Shake was scary. We passed by the ship along the Drake passage last Feb. I have pics and a video. will try to load it soon.
