Enjoying the Brief Hours of Sunlight at Pink Taco

The storefrong and one of our heat lamps (yes, we had two...)

Before going to Pink Taco, I only knew 2 things about it:  it was owned by Harry Morton who dated Lindsay Lohan for a half second, and the name allegedly refers to female genitalia.  Neither were particularly compelling to make me want to go.  But today, in search of a place to enjoy the few hours of sun before the storm swept into SoCal, my friends and I decided to give it a try because the patio area looked so inviting.  And, indeed, the sunshine, heat lamps, fun music and great service all contributed in making it a wonderful afternoon.   (I do have to note that only in CA do we require heat lamps during a sunny day… but admittedly, I really really enjoyed sitting next to one.)

Unfortunately neither the food nor the drinks were very good.  In fact, they were both rather mediocre.   More specifically we had the following:

-         complimentary chips and salsa " pretty average

-         pink taco margaritas " a bit sweet, really more like lemonade and vodka

-         pork tacos " pork was tender but lacked flavor, the tortillas, rice, beans were all pretty medicore

-         fish tacos " not good at all - over-battered and over-fried pieces of fish

-         rico sauve margaritas " a little better than the pink taco margarita; tasted pineappley

However, this is one of those places where the lack of good food is compensated by the casual ambience, the friendly and attentive service, and the convenient location " in the Century City (Westfields) mall, near the food court.

What a nice day - amazing that in a few hours' time, the sky became stormy and dark.
The eclectic and interesting mix of music also enhanced the experience.

So my final word is to come for drinks and enjoy the ambience and surprisingly interesting music, but don’t eat unless you are really really starving.

I am amazed you need an outdoor heater! And amazed the food could be so bad. No worries I am not too likely to ever get there!
