I hope to complete a Travel Blog showing all the pictures of the places my wife Jenny and I have lived and visited since we bought our first computer when we lived in Hawaii in 1998. We've spent most of that time travelling around the globe and I've spent many hours organizing all the digital pictures. Hopefully, TravBuddy will be a way to show off all the places we've expereinced in the world. The picture of us is taken from our balcony on the East China Sea in Nakadomari, Okinawa.

Tábor, Czech Republic

Jeff's third cousin Václav and his wife Helena invited us to spend the day in their home town of Tábor, about 70 KM south of Prague.  Helena works for the Czech Railroad so we were given "First Class" seats on the train.  Jeff had visited Tábor with his Mom in 1994 but this was Jenny's first time to see this lovely little town in Southern Bohemia.  It was even more memorable due to the Czech Team was playing in the World Cup Soccer Championships that day (unfortunately they did not win) and we were able to catch the game in the town square on big screen TVs while drinking the excellent 12% Czech Budweiser "Czechvar" Beer.  Too bad the Budweiser name was taken by Anheuser-Busch (since 1876) from the Budějovický Budvar in České Budějovice (since 1895) who made the original beer named after their town...but I digress.

The town was founded in the spring of 1420 by Petr Hromádka of Jistebnice and Jan Bydlínský of Bydlín from the most radical wing of the Hussites, who soon became known as the Taborites.   [From Wikipedia]

There are still several historic structures (including walls, guard towers and churches) and a few small lakes in the town of 36,013 (2005).
