From the beaches of Barking Sands Pacific Missile Range Facility near the beach cottages, you can get an excellent view of the "Forbidden Isle" of Niihau (See description of Niihau from Wikipedia below). The sunset views are extra amazing but once the sun goes down beyond the horizon you'll be truly amazed at the clarity of the TRILLIONS of STARS you can't see from anywhere else in the world! (Too bad I can't take a photo of the Milky Way more clearly than anywhere else on the planet-- the only way you can truly see it is to go there!) Kauai is our favorite island in the State of Hawaii which is saying a lot since we visited all 6 islands during our 4 years living on Oahu--Kauai is the BEST!
For more information on the Barking Sands PMRF see this Wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pacific_Missile_Range_Facility
Niihau is the smallest of the inhabited Hawaiian Islands in the U.
The Beach Cottages at Barking Sands Pacific Missile Range Facility on Kauai are the best kept secret for military members! The sandy beaches are empty of all those tourists, the waves and sunsets are amazing, and you can't beat the view. The best place to stay in paradise!
