Busena Terrace Beach Resort Okinawa

Okinawa Travel Blog › entry 80 of 114 › view all entries

I hope to complete a Travel Blog showing all the pictures of the places my wife Jenny and I have lived and visited since we bought our first computer when we lived in Hawaii in 1998. We've spent most of that time travelling around the globe and I've spent many hours organizing all the digital pictures. Hopefully, TravBuddy will be a way to show off all the places we've expereinced in the world. The picture of us is taken from our balcony on the East China Sea in Nakadomari, Okinawa.

Busena Terrace Beach Resort Hotel Okinawa is a fabulous place and was home to the 2000 G8 summit. This is a very expensive hotel unless you get a package/military discount like we received. Day passes are also available if you want to save the overnight room charges.

The oceanfront Ryutan Restaurant was probably the best fresh seafood we've ever had and was worth it for us, however you have to be ready to spend quite a bit. Although our selection from the tanks of live sea creatures in a "shopping cart" style was cooked to our exact desires by an army of chefs and an Australian bottle of wine, a romantic dinner for two exceeded $350.

We had a wonderful view of the East China Sea, the huge pools with a water slide, and the Island of Okinawa just south of the famous Japanese Cherry Blossom city of Nago. There are several villas on the hill which ran $2-5,000/night for politicians and rock stars, adjacent to a large conference center. The spa was fantastic but I was sore for a month after I got a traditional massage. The pier has an underwater observatory which is a "must see" which cost about $2 and we thoroughly enjoyed the "underwater walking" in bell-type helmets to experience the beauty of the sea without having to be SCUBA qualified. Our sunset catamaran sailboat cruise with wine was a perfectly romantic experience, especially when we crawled out onto the net just above the water to watch one of the best sunsets we saw during our two years living in Okinawa.

The gardens, beaches, activities and overall experience was just as luxurious as our time on Lanai, Hawaii where we stayed at two of the top five hotels in the world. Busena Terrace is easily in the top 10 hotels in the world.

The rooms were spacious and the food at the other on-site restaurants was delicious while much cheaper than The Ryutan Restaurant. Overall, I'm glad we were able to share a special romantic weekend at Busena Terrace and it was well worth the cost to live like a superstar for a weekend of fun and relaxation.

I have been to this hotel and everything you mention is spot on. However, if you plan on an extended stay you might want to travel outside of the hotel grounds here is a great recoouce for what to do around Nago http://www.hdrjapan.com/japan/northern-okinawa/nago/ . If you are a young couple looking for a bit more excitement and still want a resort hotel feel, I would book at the Renaissance or the Okinawa Beach Tower. These hotels have nice beaches and amenities and there is a lot more to to do within walking distance.
