My friends three girls at the famous tunnel tree.
This was actually my fourth trip to Yosemite. The first was a family road trip when I was about 15 years old and I never forgot that one. Somehow my dad had booked us a cabin in Yosemite Valley; I guess that was much easier to do back then. It was mid-August and I remember floating the Merced River, hiking up to the pool at the base of Yosemite Falls, free climbing on the rocks (nope, didn’t let the parents see that or they’d have freaked!) meeting some cute girl from DC and hanging out together and many other things. We were there for an entire week and a great many wonderful memories were formed.
I went to Yosemite twice while living in the Bay Area for weekends, mostly to show other people who hadn’t been how awesome the place is. I’m sure many of you have seen pictures, but pictures NEVER do these sorts of natural wonders justice. If you’ve been here, the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, etc. you know what I mean. Anyway, this trip was similar, neither my friend nor his three daughters had ever been to Yosemite. It was a fun time and just as beautiful as ever.
