Skiathos introducing
August 12, 2007
Skiathos is a small island in the Aegean Sea. From Volos it takes 2 and half hours by ferry-boat. Skiathos belongs to the Sporades islands and it is is the westernmost island. It is only 46 sq km, but there you can find the best beaches of the
Greek islands, 70 beaches all around it.
Much of the island is forested. There are pine trees called Koukounaries. You can find that pine trees in Disney cartoon about old Greece and Rome. :)
Just one month before we came, there was forest fire which spread rapidly across the island. We saw carbon trees all over island.
Here are some pictures from our first days.
