One of the highlights so far as been the famous London Travbuddy meetups! Ive only been in the country 1 month and already I feel like i have a good set of mates and drinking buddies!!
In the second week I met up with Lori and Ruby for the first time for a mini bar crawl in Brick Lane. It was great to finally meet them and it felt as though we'd known each other for ages instead of minutes. The big Travbuddy meetup was highly anticipated - 31st Jan @ Bar55 in Camden!!!
The first meet up went great, Ruby and Lori did such a great job of organizing it. I wish I remembered more but the 2-4-1 cocktails eventually got to me. Think I had 6 in the first 2 hours. Then we bailed over to Waggermammas for a feed.
From this point onwards I dont recall much. I'm an affectionate drunk so was running around huggin everyone and buying more cocktails (shoulda been cut off long ago!!). The next morning I awoke to a few suspect bruises, vague memories, minus a credit card, some funny pics and heard a few hilarious stories as Sarah and Ruby informed me of the last part of my night.
Due to the absence of some Chezzie boys, another meetup was organised for the 9th of Feb. I had to work and missed the first part of the meetup as it started at 1pm (top effort guys!) and arrived at Rubys flat at about 6! As it was my bday soon and had been Bondys bday a coupla days before, we had a bit of a bday celebration. They'd baked and iced us a chockie cake, which Bondy mostly wore rather than ate.
We were also given a tray of shots, 20 for me as I turned 20, 24 for Bondy for his 24th. Only about 8 of them were spirits. The rest were goon, beer and juice! I knocked them off in true Aussie style while Bondy just looked flabbergasted and meekly made his way though half of them.
From there half of us went onto the London Eye for a night time view of London and her pretty lights and buildings.
We wandered around god knows where for ages looking for a decent bar/pub to drink - everywhere was packed. At some point skinny Wayne thought he'd throw me over his shoulder and continue to stagger down the cobblestone streets.
After awhile, Lori, Wayne, Joe, Bondy & I caught a cab (my first 'cab') back to Rubys and all piled into the once double bed. So uncomfortable but the wonder of alcohol let us pass out peacefully. That is until Joe scared the living crap outta us by pop a balloon thenext morning and stating in that drawling british accent 'We're leaving now.' Still pissed and a lil delirious this was pretty funny, and we spent the enxt hour imitating him.
TB is the best thing since sliced bread, not quite chocolate though. Love 'em all and looking forward to more meetups!!!
