I decided in the fall of 2007 that I needed to do something new and a little different. Next thing I knew, I was planning for a 2 and a 1/2 month trip to Europe. This is what will be my travel blog as I wander around Europe like a nomad!

Big, long, exhausting but awesome hike day!

The German guy I met during the hike

Today was my long hiking day and the weather couldn't have been better. Kevin and I took a train to Grindelwald where I bought a pair of hiking poles (thank god I did, since I definitely used them all day!). From Grindelwald, we hiked for almost 3 1/2 hours which resulted in just over a 1,000 m altitude gain. It was tough but a lot of fun and the views were incredible.  Alogn the way we took pictures with some cows, which was on my "to do" list haha

For lunch, we ate up at Klein Schiddieg, overlooking the valley that we climbed from, with views of three huge mountains (one about 11,000 m above sea level). I think it was probably the best place I've ever eaten a tuna sandwich!

From there we hiked down to Wengen which took about an hour and a half. From there we trained back to Interlaken where I was meeting Shane and Leigh Anne. Omg it was so nice to see them! We went out to the same square I had been at a couple nights before to watch some of the game, drink a beer and have them fill me in on all the news I've missed over the past two months! I haven't felt homesick at all until I was talking to them and heard about the stuff I've missed. Ah well, I guess this is a good time to be homesick, since I'll be heading home in just under two weeks!
