Starting my first real Travel Experience ;)
Until that day I have been travelling around the country and was overseas a couple of times, but these experiences didn't count for real travel experiences. Don't get me wrong. They were great, but I wasn't a right traveller. Just looking for nice and confortable hotels... that's nice, but I wanted to know not only a place, but also the people and culture! So, which could have been a better start that my own country?
At my former job, I used to be in touch with people from different countries. So, I met a colleague in Canada who was always been fascinated about the Inca Culture and Machu Picchu. He was a real traveller and we were talking about Peru and how great would it be doing the Inca Trail, etc. Suddenly he surprised me saying he was coming to Peru for holidays in August!! I started looking for accomodation and contacting the people I know in Cusco and a travel agent.
He came to Lima. We spent just 1 day here and took the next plane to Cusco. It wasn't something so easy. We missed our flight!!!! It was my fault. I accept it. Anyway, a guy from the travel agency was there and helped us catching the next flight, ufffff! I have relatives in Cusco, so we stayed at my aunt's. She helped us booking for the Inca Trail. She's so sweet and nice, offering her house to her niece and an unknown friend (well unknown for her). I guess this guy, Matt, was my real first Travbuddy...
