Inca Trail Day 1 - KM 82 – Wayllabamba – Lluncachimpa - the adventure started ;)
I was so excited the night before, just thinking about the Inca Trail. I have packed everything in a not so big backpack. And of course the most important thing my Entrance Permission. You know, there is a limited number of people who can be doing the Inca Trail at the same day - including not only the hikkers, but also the guides and porters. It's because of maintenance. Anyway, my aunt had a contact in the Administration and he got us an Entrance Admission, hehehe. Extra help is always welcome :) We just had to show it.
We went to the travel agency office and met the rest of the group. We were just 5 people: 3 Dutch (Maike, Martjin & Ron), 1 Canadian guy (Matt) and me - the only Peruvian. So I had to do my best. I was representing my country, hehehe.
With a bus we drove to Sacred Valley. At the 82Km the trekking started. There we met with the rest of the group, our guide: Maria and the porters. I was amazed but these guys. He were carrying all the heavy stuffs: tents, food, their sleeping bags, hardware tools, and all the appliances for cooking, etc. They were also cooks and walked so fast. Much faster than us, even though they weren't wearing hikking boots, just sandals. We were in small community called Miskay, where we had lunch. The porters gave to us appetizer, entree, dessert and beverages! We were able to see the archeological complex of Llactapata. Then we started trekking until other community Huayllabamba (3,100 m.a.s.l.). Finally started climbing to Llucachimpa (3,300 m.a.s.l), where we camped. By the time we arrived, the porter have already set the tents and served a snack. While we were starting getting ready our sleeping bags, they were cooking dinner for us.
This day we just walked for 6 hours. So it wasn't too hard. Perfect for 1st day. After dinner we were just hanging out and talking. But went to sleep early. We were tired and had to wake up early next day.
