After a nice and quiet night we were ready to start our Cusco Exploration. It was a good idea had a quiet first day, so we were ready for starting with the trekking. In order to be even more prepared we decided to go to Valle Sagrado - Urubamba. In our way we'll be visiting Ollantaytambo where we have to climb some stairs. Perfect for getting ready for the Inca Trail next day :)
We woke up early, had breakfast with my aunt and then went out. We bought a "Cusco ticket". This ticket allows you the entrance to the most popular attractions - just Machu Picchu is not part of the ticket. You just have to keep it with you and show everytime you are visiting one of them.
We left the city and drive to Urubamba - Sacred Valley. This is amazing the landscapes are so beautiful. The sky is always blue. We tried the local food, including guinea pig - cuy. We also went to Ollantaytambo. This is a small town, but you can find the Ruins of Ollantaytambo, the only site where the Incas defeated the Spaniards in battle. There are a lot of terraces, so the exercise was great and helpful for the Inca Trail. This giant stones!! It was amazing just trying to imagine, how the Inca built everything without knowing the wheel. wow!
We started going back to Cusco, but stopped in Pisaq. This is a small inca town. So lovely landscapes and friendly people. There are not only Inca Remains - as in the whole Cusco - but also a famous street market. It used to be open only on Sundays. But nowadays it's open the whole week. I was needing a couple of warm stuffs for the Inca Trail, hehehe.
Then we went to Chincheros, another small town. With a nice Church from the Spanish Time and some Inca Remains. We left Chincheros at the early evening. By the time we arrived to Cusco, it was already dark, although it wasn't late at all.
We just took a walk around the lovely main square and went back home. The next day will be a long one: Inca Trail was starting, yeah!!!!!
