La Casa de la Emancipacion "Independence House" - courtyard

For our last day we planned to do a city tour during the morning. We went to the Main Square, visited the Cathedral, small squares and some Colonial Houses.  The white balconies are a tradition in the Colonial Houses in Trujillo. The houses at the Main Square are colorful with Iron Balconies. Very neat!

There are 2 famous Colonial Houses, which are also museums. We visited the Casa Urquiaga (Urquiaga’s House) which is now the Central Bank. There you can see gold ornaments from the Chimu Culture and some furniture from the Independence time. We also went to the Palacio Iturregui (Iturregui’s Palace), right now is the Central Club. This is a sample of the Neoclassical Civil Architecture. The columns, windows are statues are in an Italian style.

Another nice colonial house open to the public is the: Casa de la Emancipacion (Independence House).

Casa Urquiga
It's called so, because the Independence Declaration was written here. Also it was the house of one of the presidents.

I love the houses here. They are so colorful and nice.

For lunch we went to Huanchaco. Huanchaco is in front of the beach. There we had some fish and seafood and enjoyed a delicious meal.

Our flight didn’t leave until late, so we still had some free time. We visited a couple of museums and walked around the city looking for small churches and other colonial buildings. Of course I had to buy some desserts for home, otherwise…

Well, it was our last day before going back to Lima. And I had to go back to work the day after, wow! I guess, I needed some vacations in order to rest from the vacations I just had, hehehe.
