Day trip to Firenze
We had a great time exploring Firenze the capital city of Toscany in ITALY. The city has a population of 400 000 people and during tourist season the streets seems to be crowded with people. Best to keep an eye on your company so no one gets out of sight. We had decided to take a day trip to Firenze and Pisa at the same time since there isn't really much to see in Pisa except for the obvious:) We started out in Firenze which has a lot of art and architecture to offer and i enjoy both:) We went to see the Duomo, the statue of DAvid, Ponte Vecchio and Piazza della Repubblica. We spent time walking around getting an impression of the city which had a lot of different shops as well. Our favourites ones were the ice-cream stores hehe....Once again we bought ourself a big cone of tasty ice-cream and some post cards to send to friends back home. I've always been pretty good at that part so we found a place to sitt down and write some warm gretatings from sunny Italy.
We drank a lot of water since it was very hot and the kids needed to sit down and rest. After all we'd been up since early morning and we do walk a great deal. Good thing we got good shoes on our feet lol....Couldn'¨t go on a vacation without the proper shoes on my feet...Outside the Duomo we got talking to an artist who painted and made caracter drawings...My son Kristoffer was tired and warm and were not in a happy mood. The artist offered to draw a funny picture of him if he smiled a little but Kristoffer wouldn't hear of it. He started to walk in a different direction from where we were standing and put on a sour face. ..i told him to come back and put a little smile on his face so he could have a funny picture drawn of him, but no such luck...Rochelle was in a good mood and satt down in the chair instead. He asked her what she wanted to be so she said a mermaid...He started to make a few lines on his white paper and before you knew it he was done.. A really good drawing and he had captured the sparkle in her eyes and you could tell it was her. He told us in Italian since my friend speaks Italian that he's an art teacher and i must say a great one too. I ended up buying a painting off him that i have here at home. I have this thing about buying something from everyplace i go to. It doesn't have to be big or fancy but something that reminds me of the place i've been;) So we left the place with one happy child and one not so happy but that's kids for you- can't please them all i guess haha...
The tour of Firenze had come to an end so we headed back to the trainstation once again...Heading for Pisa.......:)
