After a 22-hour drive from Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Orlando, Florida, we have arrived safe and sound. Our rears are sore and our Labrador Retrievers refused to get back into the car somewhere in Kentucky but we are now in beautiful 70+ degree weather and Greg even got a chance to golf this morning. The family is wonderful and after surprising my aunt, uncle, cousin, nieces and nephews, we knew that it was well worth the trip.
Will we do it again? No way in heck! All those long hours crammed into a small Saturn sedan just doesn't work for us. The beginning of the drive started us off in negative degree wind-chill and even getting out to hit the rest room was torture! The drive showed some great scenery but we would not recommend it for anyone without a strong back, large vehicle, and a butt of steel!
So, here was our route: Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, and then Florida. Of course, everything looked better in the daylight and we were much happier when we got to Georgia and could finally open the windows and get some decent fresh air. For now, we will continue to enjoy the beautiful weather, our family, and spending a vacation with our pups.... and not try to think about the ride back home to Wisconsin. *laugh*
