After watching Kyla Bronx and another couple of international acts we decided it was time to head of the the "Scots Pub" and came across a three piece local band who were fantastic. We stayed until closing, met lots of people, got invited back to a farm for a party (we declined.....we were boozed....and plenty of cops around!) Staggered back to our tent and went at it again the next day and the next.
Everyone is so friendly and the astmosphere is really laid back, although they don't allow you to street drink, which I found out the hard way, when a Cop tapped me on the shoulder and said "Lady tip that beer out or you will be fined". Couldn't waste a cold beer on a 35 degree day, so I promptly went back into the pub where we were and sat and drank my beer, while Brad and a couple of other friends waited patiently for me. There are heaps of licenced areas where you can get a coldy, but I just wasn't thinking??!!
You've gotta get down to the "Cidery" and try the Scrumpy - what a drop. They do great lunches there too. We went on the Sunday to see Matt Gresham, a local Perth boy, who I remember seeing busking in Mandurah only about 12 months ago. He was 17 at the time. He has a way with the crowd, gets everyone involved. By the end of his set, he had people just coming up from the crowd playing bongo's, symbols, anything really.
The last night goes off, most people have left the town, except for band members and locals so they party! We stayed on of course and drove back to Perth on Monday morning which was well worth it.
