So many people!!!
I ended up going here completely by accident. When I got back from
walking around campus, I ran into some friends who were going shopping
in Enfield, and decided to tag along. Then this girl Christine said she
wanted to go to this big festival thing she heard was happening on the
Embankment, and I didn't have any plans, so I told her I would go with
her if she wanted to check it out. So we took the bus back to the
dorms, and then took the tube to London. Right when we got out of the
tube station there were people EVERYWHERE. There was this really
extravagant parade going on, and we were at the end of it. So, we ran
up alongside of this huge parade, running right next to the river,
cheering at all the exiting floats, and costumes, and dancers, and
musicians that we passed.
Almost naked girls dancing on a float.
It was so much fun. There were so many people
there dancing and enjoying all the excitement. Then after we found some
much coveted bottled water, we went up on a footbridge over the river
and watched the fireworks. It was so wonderful. I suggest you go if you
ever get the chance. Again, this is better told by pictures. Check 'em
Oh yeah, and after this, we came back on the tube, and the campus bus
had stopped running. Some guy told us it would be running until 1:00 AM
tonight, but he must have lied, because we waited half an hour and it
never came. So this English guy we met named David, who is also a drama
major said he and I and the three other girls I ended up going with
TRIED to get a cab, but they said another one wouldn't come by for half
an hour. SO, he said we should just walk up Snakes Lane, even though
everyone says it's really bad to do that at night..... but we did. And
we were fine. it was kind of scary because it was very dark, but it was
fun, and he told us the road was haunted, and we all got scared, and it
was fun. Yay.
