Summadayze 2008 @ Sidney Myer Music Bowl
January 1, 2008
After waking up from minimal sleep from new years eve, it was time to hit the booze early again and make the trek from our apartment to the Sidney Myer Music Bowl to experience Summadayze, Australia's biggest dance music festival where some of the world's and oz's best djs put on a massive show to 30,000 ravers, frothing on starting the new year on a high. This was my first time to the music bowl and never realised how big it was until I was actually in there. It is a wicked venue for live music!
Due to the festival being in its 10th anniversary, it had a massive line-up of djs. The line-up inluded:
- Groove Armada (just the djs, not the band)
- David Guetta
- Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso
- Joachim Garraud
- Felix Da Housecat
- New Young Pony Club
- Benny Benassi
- Sister Bliss
- Dave Spoon
- Claude Von Stroke
- Tom Neville
- Mason
and a whole heap of Australias finest.
Some of my personal favourites of the day were David Guetta, Joachim Garraud, Angello and Ingrosso and Benny Benassi. Another highlight was some guy under the influence climbing to the top of the music bowl and saluting the crowd to which he got a massive ovation. he finally climbed down and was booted out by the cops. what a legend haha! It was also ridiculous, how many people i knew from where I live (Adelaide), made the trek over to Melbourne for the festival. I kept bumping into people i knew all day. All in all, it was a great way to start the new year getting hammered with my best friends and dancing all day. If your in Melbourne for a new years and you like your dance music. head to this!
