Summadayze 2008 and New Years Eve In Melbourne

Melbourne Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

Made the pilgrimage from Adelaide to Melbourne for Australia's biggest dance music festival on New Years Day. The festival, which had it's 10th anniversary this year, rates as one of the best days of my life haha. There is nothing better than to start the new year on a good note by getting absoulutely hammered with your best mates and dance all day to some of the worlds and Australia's best djs!

New Years Eve @ Famous In Melbs

The owner of this Indian restaurant should have rethought this name out haha!

My mate, Jamie and I left 6 o'clock in morning to drive from Adelaide to get to Melbourne in time to settle in to our apartment we rented with our other mate Tim, and so that we could meet with our other friends who were staying 2 blocks away from where we were staying and have some pre-drinks before we went out to celebrate the oncoming of the new year. Our apartment was located right in the heart of the Melbourne CBD, so it was a short walk from the Sidney Myer Music Bowl (where Summadayze was going to be on New Years Day) and from a lot of the CBDs main attractions, clubs, etc.

After having pre-drinks at our friend's apartment, at 10:30pm we all decided to head to Famous in the Queensbridge Hotel, on Kings St. across the road from the Crown Casino where some of Melbourne's best djs (John Course, Grant Smilie and Goodwill) where bringing in the New Year! Randomly met some girls from Adelaide aswell which was pretty crazy due to the club being so massive. We partied there until the early hours before deciding to clip it back to the apartment to get a few hours sleep before we had to wake up and get on the booze again for a staunching new years day at Summadayze.
