So we got to our hotel, the "Catalina" in South beach, which is very modern but not very clean. More then half of the hotel staff is younger then me, which is not a good sign if you ask me. But the room was nice and clean and that's all that matters to me. It took them a while to valet our car and show us to our rooms.

After we settled in and got changed we headed out for some ice cream. Across the street from the hotel we got lucky. My nephew didn't like the flavor he picked so he threw the whole thing in the trash can before we could stop him. lol  When we finally found the flavor of his liking we headed towards the beach only one block over so it wasn't far at all. Then we almost died laughing when my nephew spotted a "pirate". It was a bum with a bandana, but you know how kids are.
Us
haha We looked at some of the knick knacks the vendors were selling and kept on walking. Then we got to the strip with all the restaurants on Ocean Drive.

Here we split from the family because it was about bed time for the little ones. Hubby and I started looking for a good spot to get a drink, or two. We went to the Irish bar Finnegan's Way on Ocean Drive and ordered  a few appetizers to get the night started.  We tried to find the outdoor club "Clevelander" that we had discovered on your last short visit.  We finally found it after a couple of blocks but decided to not enter and instead sit at one of the tables along the sidewalk. It was a perfect spot to watch people walk by and just relax from the long drive. Hubby was finally in vacation mode after a few hours away from drama and work.

haha

We went to a couple of other bars, but at this point I don't recall names or how many vodka cranberries I've had. hehe Headed back to the hotel at around 3 am but not without stopping at subway cause we was starvin'.

We had no idea what kind of drama we had missed at the hotel. My sister in law filled us in the next day, but basically this is what had happened:

The lobby of the "Catalina" also functions as a club! There's a bar and loud music. Well the smart staff put my sister in law and her two sons, 2 and 5 years of age, into a room that shared walls with the lobby. So you can imagine what the noise level must have been. To top things of the air conditioning failed in the entire main building, so since this is Miami it was about 85 degrees in there.

My sister in law had called them a couple of times about it but instead of switching them to an empty room in the side building, which is where we had our room, they decided to just tell her to wait it out. If only they had known how much trouble relocating them would have saved them. At 1:30 am my sister-in-law called the cops on them. Oops. hahaha The hotel got fined for the broken air conditioning, the noise, the number of people crammed into the lobby and the parked cars outside on the sidewalk. Yeah. Next time, just give the lady what she asks for.

The next day they gave my sister in law a new room, free breakfast for all of us and she ended up paying nothing for her room for the entire stay. I guess it worked out great after all.

We didn't witness any of this because we were asleep in our nice, chill, quiet room. lol We did enjoy free breakfast though! :-)
