A quick trip to San Francisco

The painted ladies with the SF skyline in the rear.

We had another chance to spend a day away from home, to attend the TravBuddy Meetup in San Francisco.  Not that we need an excuse to get out and go somewhere, but in the middle of this winter our plans hadn’t included much travel.  So it was fun to set up a short trip.  I did extensive research (as usual) to find a place to stay that was close to our Meetup site, the Jade Bar and found the Days Inn to be about two blocks away.  Now at the time I booked the room I had no clue if it was two steep blocks or not.  You all know how San Francisco is.  As it turned out it was level which made an easy walk from the bar to the motel.

So we packed up the car, early Saturday morning and took off to enjoy a fair weathered trip to the northern coast.

We got there in plenty of time to check in to our motel and then get out and do a little sight seeing. No matter how many times you visit San Francisco, you’ll never see it all.

Some of the great architecture of SF.

Our first stop was Alamo Square, where the very famous “painted ladies” or “seven sisters” are located.  They are the wonderful Victorian homes that sit opposite the park and have become popular in photos and ads over the year.  Also, from the square, where many people walk their dogs, you can see the Coit Tower and the TransAmerica pyramid, along with much of the skyline on downtown San Francisco.

We also enjoyed some of the architecture and wonderful paint schemes on the homes in the area.  So much detail.

We got several more pictures as we drove a portion of the 49 mile scenic drive through the downtown area and over to the Fisherman’s Wharf area.

We stopped and strolled that are so that we could find some early dinner.  Naturally, I had to have some famous Clam Chowder in a Sourdough bowl from Boudin’s.  Great stuff!  I even remembered to take a picture of it.

We walked along the bay area and I had to stop and get a few pictures, including one shop that sold tee shirts.  They had one that sit my wife to a tee.  It said “Will Sell My Husband for Wine!”  J I loved it.  Unfortunately, they didn’t carry it in her size. Bummer.  But I did get a picture of it.

And thanks to all who smiles and commented making this a ***featured*** blog!
