So as it was rush hour it was easy for me to walk off the car and get onto a viaduc to walk in town from the northern ring. I went to the first metro station (of course as usual: Heysel) and also sent an sms to Marianne (HC: marianne888), a canadian girl studying in Brussels for the year and whom I had exchanged mail with.
She answered back when I was at Achim and we agreed to meet later in the evening near Montgomery, in the meantime I prepared myself a fast meal and then walked to the huge Montgomery roundabout (which was quite near finally!).
Then we started a funny call and seek, to know on what side of the giga roundabout we were. After few attempt we did meet up :D
It was great, meeting someone from home. We talked about the life in Belgium and other normal introduction talk.
I invited her shortly at Achim to show the appartment and we discussed some more before she finally left as she was catching a train to Germany in early morning. It was a great encounter, a funny a well headed girl... it was nice too to be speaking more dialectic too!
A quiet day before the party, I mainly worked on the computer prior to the people to arrive in town and finalise stuff... I also packed my bag as I would leave to the UK on the week end.
For the rest, I simply went to the bakkery in early morning. That's about it.
Then I worked with the computer really really late as it would be my last time with a broadband Internet so it was now easy to try to repair my computer.
Now at least everything is updated!
I'm up early by morning, getting some stuff at the bakkery and work on some final post on HC forum and having a look at my 'to-do' list before going to shave and prepare myself. Then Steven (CS: Stoemp) called that he was arrived in town, so I hurried and went to welcome him at Schuman and we came back to Achim. I introduced them to each other... and went to finish preparing myself fast.
Then we talked a bit and went outside for a walk and finally to join Nei (HC: nbrazilian) and Stefano (HC: sty79) who arrived from London, the group got bigger before we headed back to join Mathilde at the café on Place Jourdan.
The meeting was great and success, more than 50 members turned out and some really cool people. A lot of new faces and new members as well. We even had someone of above 60 year old and also a family coming. It was well diversified.
The owner of the café acted like a jerk and made a fool of himself in front of all these customer. Basically by treating us like nothing and being rude... to all this international crowd living in the neighbourhood. At a moment, I had enough and shout at him (gosh it was such a big dumb walloon).
People still enjoyed and we managed to arrange ourselves. The café has respected no deal of what we had asked.
Remember to ignore: Café L'Espérance at Place Jourdan in Etterbeek, Brussels!
By midnight, most people either left or went to town to continue to party. Though as usual, the crowd splitted and many got lost.
Other guests also missed us at some place. I managed to still find the people myself at least!
A lot of great guests came (Frank, Claudia, Onur, Achim, Martin, Gregoire... there were people from every continent: Brasilian, Slovenian, Turkish, Japanese, Korean, American, Dutch... it was wonderful!)
After having been in several bars in town, Steven and me walked back to Achim and slept.
I woke up really early and had to contact Nei to get a lift back to the UK with him. At first it was quite difficult. Finally we managed to talk to each other (seems the sms weren't working).
A wonderful hot and sunny day, cruising the flat West Vlaanderen landscape!
Then crossing the immigration in a UK car with a brasilian - canadian and italian is a funny thing as well.
